A new magazine from Rankin turned up at CMYK Towers the other day – Hunger. New to us, but it’s actually issue two. I have become a bit anaesthetised to fashion magazines after having worked on a few, and seen so many – but this one caught my attention.
Firstly because it is the weight of a telephone directory – but also because of the lovely silver ink. I’m a sucker for special colours, and this silver is used to great effect throughout the mag – not just on the cover. There’s a whole fashion shoot printed duotone utilising the silver across the whole page – not just as an accent.
Then there’s the weird severed doll’s head beauty shoot – which is amazing. You can’t see the join!
Published twice a year, it’s not just full of amazing images, there are some great in-depth interviews too. All this for under a fiver!
Just get yourself down the gym first. It weighs a ton.
